MIA

Boy, time flies when my ass is stuck in a courtroom!! That's MY excuse for not updating. :)

We're one week down in a two-week court term. I had one trial, drugs, of course. It was a very clear video sale, but my guess is the defendant thought he had some of his "peeps" on the jury. The reason I say that is because we had three jurors who didn't fess up to either themselves being convicted of a felon or a family member. That's usually a pretty good strike. Luckily they were found out during the jury challenges. Two were dismissed without pay and the third one was arrested since she had outstanding warrants on her in another one of our counties. Fine, fine citizens we have, don't ya think??

We had an extra large jury pool this time, too. One of the major employers in this town closed its doors for good the week before. We're now getting a lot of jurors showing up for their $25 check. Evidently killing hogs did pay more than court.

As junkmel wrote, we're entering panic mode with our jewelry endeavors. We've got about a week and a half before the seminar and we're both thinking we don't have enough and what we do have no one will like. Neurotic? Why, yes we are! I'm ready to be sitting behind that table laughing and kidding with our fellow reporters while taking ALL their money!!

Happy Easter and have a good one, Girls!!

When is your court reporter's meeting? Where is your court reporter's meeting? Ours is April 21-22 in Little Rock, but I can't go. I'll say one thing for your jury pool, with the arrest of potential jurors, at least it was an "exciting" jury pool. We were supposed to pick one today in for a murder trial but guess what... the judge got to listen to motions instead. Seems the defendant doesn't feel he was properly given his rights. Now the judge gets to watch video tapes and read sworn statements as to said defendant being given his rights. Trial's been put off until August.
